Would you consider yourself an experienced truck driver?

Would you consider yourself an experienced truck driver?

Is it your dream to immigrate to Canada with your family? You’re in luck if this is the case. The Canadian trucking industry is facing a shortage of drivers. A few provinces offer truckers different programs for gaining Canadian experience and obtaining permanent residency.

Here is one of the truckers’ immigration programs:

Saskatchewan Experience Stream – Long-Haul Truck Driver.

To be considered by an employer, you must have relevant work experience. Check out saskjobs.ca and find an employer that is hiring and willing to sponsor you.

To work in Canada, your employer must apply for a LMIA work permit for you. If everything works out, you can come to Saskatchewan to take your 1A driver’s license exam (Please be aware that you would need to attend mandatory Class 1 driver training). After 6 months of employment, your employer must register with SINP and obtain a Job Approval Letter. Then a permanent residency application can be submitted to the Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program (SINP).

To be eligible for this program, you must have the following qualifications:

1. Your English assessment result, you should achieve at least CLB 4, which is equivalent to IELTS (general training) 3.5 in reading, 4 in writing and speaking, and 4.5 in listening.

2. Worked for a SINP-approved trucking company for at least 6 months (780 hours).
